An Intimate Moment to Start the New Decade

By Thomas Ward

Before I begin getting back into the swing of bringing you tech news, reviews, and how-tos, I would like to take a moment to recognize an extremely special person in my life. This person has seen me in both the brightest and darkest days of my life and still lives to tell the tale. I’m, of course, referring to fiancee’, Andrea.

I’m not sure if she knows it or not, but she is the only woman I have, or ever will have, loved in my entire life. I have felt this way ever since we first met at Southern West Virginia Community and Technical College back in 2003. I love her so much that I still remember, to this day, the very first words I ever said to her:  ”has anyone ever told you that you look like Natalie Portman?”

Not only is she the only women I have ever loved, but she is also the only woman I have ever truly wanted in my entire life. I’m constantly on edge to see what’s going to happen next, and I enjoy every single moment we spend together. Looking into her eyes, I not only see a bright future, but a world full of possibilities. Possibilities I long to explore with her by my side.

She is also the only person for me, and who will ever exist to me. Even when starlets like Angelina Jolie (whom my fiancée is compared to on a daily basis) and Megan Fox come onscreen during my favorite movies, all I can do is look at her, knowing that, in my eyes, she is the only beautiful woman on this planet.

I am, without a doubt, the luckiest man on Earth. I can only hope that she feels the same way toward me, and that we will be together forever.

What Changes Have You Made in Your Life?

By Thomas Ward

Let me begin this blog post by asking you a simple question:  what changes have you made in your life recently? Have you moved to a new town, begun a new job, or simply changed the way you do things? Feel free to leave your thoughts and insights in the comments below.

I have been undergoing major changes in my life over the past few weeks, including most of the stuff mentioned above. But don’t worry; I fully intend to get back to producing new episodes of the “Mind of Ward” podcast for you, the viewer, to enjoy very soon.

First off, I have moved out of my family home in Williamson, West Virginia, and have relocated to the beautiful city of Pikeville, Kentucky, in an effort to be closer to my beautiful fiancée and find a new job, seeing as how I was recently terminated from my current employment (long story – don’t ask). This is a move that I have considered for quite some time, so don’t think for a moment that I only did it on her behalf. Frankly, I’m enjoying the newfound freedom I have to work and live my life the way I’ve always wanted to.

As far as employment goes, I have searched around for quite some time and I think I may have finally found a job that is easy enough (meaning I don’t have to perform physical labor) and pays well enough to fund further “Mind of Ward” productions. Starting next Tuesday (hopefully) I will  be working for the Civic Development Group (don’t let the name fool you – it’s a telemarketing company). Doing so, I will be making over nine dollars an hour talking to folks, like you, on the telephone! It’s quite the scam, if you think about it.

Now, you’re probably wondering why I added the phrase “new look” to the title of this post. Again, the answer is simple: I have been considering a large quantity of aesthetic changes, which range from the look and pacing of the “Mind of Ward” podcast to my outward appearance. I have decided to, again, grow a beard (you may remember that I had one for several episodes earlier this year) and let my hair grow out to attain a more professional yet “hip” look.

So, be sure to subscribe to this blog and to my YouTube channel at http://www.youtube.com/themindofward because, as I said before, I will be posting videos a lot more often, especially since the Internet situation here at my fiancées apartment (she doesn’t have a WiFi router – yet) has been worked out.

As always, I am Thomas Ward and that is what’s on my mind.

Happy Birthday to Me (and Google, Too)

By Thomas Ward

Today, a celebration is in order around Mind Of Ward HQ. No, we haven’t won some prestigious award or hit a million views; this celebration is a little more personal. You see, today is my birthday. Not only that, but today also marks the birth of one of the biggest (and one of the most used at Mind Of Ward HQ) innovations to hit the Internet since the invention of HTML:  the Google search engine.

Much like Google, I have come a long way since my days of disassembling VCR’s and hacking into my grandmother’s computer. Since that time, I have gone on to produce not one, but several successful podcasts (most of which are still available in the iTunes Music Store). I have also witnessed the birth of my two nieces and three nephews, been a husband, watched my parents turn into grandparents, and have turned one of my lifelong passions into a full-time business.

Seeing as how I’ve already done so much over the past 27 years, my question to you is this:  how should I celebrate Google and I’s special day? Leave your thoughts and insights in the comments below.

Before you do, however, be sure to enjoy this special performance of one the greatest birthday songs ever written, taken from the hit Adult Swim series “Metalocalypse“.

Also, if you’d like to leave me birthday wishes or other comments, feel free to send them to my Twitter account at twitter.com/Thomas_Ward or, for a more direct approach, e-mail them to me at themindofward@gmail.com.

Is This Heaven? No, It’s Iowa.

By Thomas Ward

For those of you who have been following my blog for the past few months, you’re probably experiencing a bit of deja vu right now. Do not attempt to adjust your computer screen; it’s being done on purpose. Because, once again, I’m going to be talking about the Iowa Tech and Social Media Interactive Conference, better known as Iowatasmic.

The conference will be held on September 18 through the 21st at Iowa Wesleyan College, located in Mount Pleasant, Iowa, and will feature lectures from some of the biggest names in tech, including Chris Pirillo, Household Hacker, Brad Hunstable, Sarah Townsend, and YouTube superstars DaveDays and SwiftKarateChop.

I, myself, will even be presenting two lectures during the conference. The first is all about finding, building, and engaging the social media community, and the second will be about the different methods people use to enrich the social media experience, including audio, video, and photography.

I just wanted to let you guys know that “The Mind of Ward” will be returning on Tuesday, September 22, with brand new episodes. Until then, I will be using WordPress’ Guest Blogger plugin to keep the blog updated until I return.

Hope to see you in Iowa!
